More About The

HHE Community

Community

HHE is a community of families that is intentionally set up for the long-term benefits of working together on our homeschool journeys.  Our classes are set on a rotation so that students and parents will benefit most when committed to being part of the HHE community long term.  We do not offer 'a la carte' classes for this reason.  We want our families to experience the encouragement and strength gained from becoming a part of this community over the homeschooling years.

Who we are

Hixson Home Educators is a group of homeschooling families that meets once a week on Tuesdays to place their children in a classroom setting with their peers. This allows children to gain learning experiences that come from a group setting, as well as the opportunity for them to be students of the gifts God has given to other parents that voluntarily instruct in their field of expertise. HHE does not own any property or buildings, rather it meets in a local church that is unoccupied during the weekdays.

HHE is a Christian group led by a board of directors and is not affiliated with any one denomination. All members are required to sign a statement of faith to the basic evangelical doctrines we believe are necessary for salvation.

HHE teaches ages birth through 12th grade and covers subjects such as elementary science, history, music, art, literature, PE, drama, writing, government, economics, world views, anatomy, biology, general science, chemistry, physical science, etc. There is no charge to participate, however each parent is responsible to pay the costs for their own student’s class expenses (ex. science supplies and textbooks). Each family is asked to pay a building and maintenance fee twice a year to the HHE church host.

Involvement & Expectations

Our co op is committed to meeting every week and we depend on each family to help us fulfill that commitment.  This is achieved by scheduling each member to "lead" or "assist" teach for 3 hours each week. We need all of our families to honor their commitment of weekly attendance to ensure that we all have a successful school year.

  • All families sign a profession of faith

  • Families commit to regular attendance, no more than 3 excused absences per semester.

  • Participation in at least one Service Day per year

  • Being good stewards of Coop location

  • Overall willingness to help in classroom activities

  • We seek to cultivate unity instead of sowing discord (Matt 18)
